Duck Fat vol. 63
This isn't even a shivering, trembling fraction of my bookmarks tbh.
Happy New Year’s to all the internet folk!!1 If you’re in the chat, you know I’m cozying up to some Lawson-brand onigiri this minute while on vacay until mid-Jan2 so posting schedules are realllll vibes-based and irregular rn.3 But I thought everyone else might enjoy some mindless clicking to round out the last day of holiday haze before the first full workweek back. So in that spirit, here’s 264 ebay bookmarks from my alarming backlog of Good Shit™. Enjoy, my precious bebés.5
26 ebay recs to kick off 2026!!!
Mesh metal necklace, $38: Did you enjoy the Juju Vera necklace that graced every other substack post this summer, but enjoy your Terminally Unique status just a squinch more?6 How about a necklace that lets you stash your coins AND answer, “Oh, it’s vintage [giggle of superiority]” whenever someone asks where you got it!7 I am a documented fan of mesh metal necklaces, so let’s have a few more fun options in that vein: v. fun fringe bib ($25); can’t help but picture this on Donna Summer in her Giorgio Moroder era ($55.99; less functional than the coin purse but far more intense fringe, which is it’s own function ($12); why wear a tie when you can wear a DISCO TIE ($29.99); OK, be more literal actually ($49.99). Not a mesh metal necklace, but I did become WILDLY obsessed w. this gold-tone Egyptian Revival necklace a while back and thought it was lost to the sands of time/scrolling after trying repeatedly to find it ($185).8 I am just as obsessed now that it randomly popped up in an absolutely unrelated search a few days later tbh!
Fendissime sunglasses, $55: Cute-ass sunglasses! Whatever, not everything has to be deep.
Calf hair collar red wool coat, US10 (get measurments!!), $118.80: STUNNING. Also love this red wool-blend swing coat (US8/$24). Statement coats for 2026!!!
Wales Bonner cotton rugby, S, $167.39: Damn, I love these colors! Probably bookmarked this after our girl Grace got the promotion of a lifetime.9 Get actual pics of the shirt, though - I won’t buy something off ebay without actual garment pics, but this seller has great reviews so it feels worth requesting at least.
Yellow linen 3-piece set, XXL, $79.85: Like I said, I love these colors. Yes, it’s January and cold af for most of the northern hemisphere rn. But this set is great, wearable, and off-season shopping is where the deals are anyway!
Sterling silver brooch, $129.89: Love a bigass brooch. I stab heavy brooches through my bra strap to keep them stabilized. Trade secrets, baby! Also like this one in a similar style in glass ($80, or $34.50). And gotta throw this sick articulated leopard (6.5” for $45!!) in for Sheila (of Ephemera) & Danielle.10
Costco Hot Dog t-shirt, M, $58.50: This is how you know these are coming from my personal bookmarks fr fr.11 This is one of multiple Costo hot dog related t-shirts I have bookmarked across multiple sites FYI.
Fernando Sanchez blue silk PJ set, S, $155.55: Heard PJs are cool for daytime now? And Fernando Sanchez was so cool, can we have a revival of his work this year pls?12 Pairs well with this blue silk Neiman Marcus robe (OS/$124.85). Tangentially related but we need to artificially keep this down to 26 items so: fantastic blue Valentino Intimo PJs that I for sure bookmarked after reading Glenn’s amaaaaazing MAX LOUNGE post (M/$45.99).
Printed long sleeve shirt, L, $29.95: Punchy shirt with a vv fun print in a great subtly sexy silhouette imo. Probably my brain’s version of the Neverworns Cleo Camp shirt, now that I think about it.
Hair on hide cow print belt, XS, $200: BIGASS BELT! I fucking love vintage Ralph belts, what can I say? God, she’s so sexy though. Out of my budget for real, but lowball the seller and see where it gets you!
Sterling silver toggle-clasp rolo chain, $175: Effortlessly wearable, while being exactly the kind of thing that gets you constant compliments.
Ostrich feather-trim chenille cardigan, 2X, $63.73: Just picture showing up to the next work function in this thing with your impractical but fabulous tiny 4-hinge suede clutch ($49.99)) & weather-inappropriate embroidered velvet slippers (IT36/$75). All the other girls start crying into their birks simultaneously.13 Inspire someone to live OTT in 2026, is all I’m saying!
Henry Cuir suede flats, IT37.5, $174.73: Frankly shocked that I am sharing these because I desperately want them for myself. No decorum (and statement coats) in 2026!
Sue Wong tassel dress, US8, $220: Pretty sure this bookmark was actually in memorium of this insaaaaaane Cache dress that sold, 14 but it’s gorgeous all on its own! I rlly love Sue Wong dresses, but it’s rare to find anything that will fit both my budget & my butt ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Fortunately for everyone else I like pretty things enough to spend hours searching through listings that will never work for me personally,15 so for those less booty-bountiful than I: love the delicate green of this (US6/$199.95) or go all-out on this maxi dress & bolero set with gorgeous tassel tie (US14/$450); insane colors on this knit dress (L/$270); more tassels for the girls (US6/$175); someone should grab this one for their wedding tbh (US12/$270); can’t not include this one with the best model ever (US4/$162); love the velvet-ribbon trim cardi in this set more than the dress, but it’s a deal regardless (M/$90); more great greens with this beaded silk dress (US10/$275). And then one genuine steal for anyone who read this whole paragraph, courtesy of a typo - 100% silk sequin dress for $55 (US8)!!
Cache asymmetrical lace-edge silk slip skirt (black-on-black/US6/$199.99; white-on-black/US4/$135 or US0/$149.99; brown-on-brown/US12/$189): Actually I just need to do a whole newsletter on old Cache bcs it’s so good!
Sterling silver Kieselstein Cord ring, sz. 6, $260: ICONIC Kieselstein winking ring!!!! This has gone in and out of my own cart countless times, I’m basically toying with the poor seller at this point. Someone release them from my cruel grip.
Shamask 100% cotton blouse, SZ1 (in-house sizing, this is roughly US6-8), $59.99: Just a classic white blouse for when you want to show up at the work function in birks and still make the girls weep. Similar in SZ2 (US10-14/$145) & SZ3 (US16-20/$160).
Velvet jacket, XL/$49.99 (24” across flat) or US12/$30 (20” across flat): Just a cute velvet jacket from Talbot’s! Holiday season might be over but it’s never a bad time for velvet imo.
Divine Comedy sterling silver brooch, $274: Yet another bigass brooch, but this one is even weirder, and therefore, cooler.
Brooks Brothers pinstripe scarf, $59: Went on a pinstripe scarf tear a few weeks ago in case you couldn’t tell! And if you wanna spend stupid money on a pinstripe scarf…16
Silk map-print blouse, US10, $80 (similar in US12/$34.99): Fun silk shirt in a map print, what’s not to like? OK, fine, what about tulips (M/$20)?
Silk yellow knit, XL, $35.91: Clean & classic for whenever you want to recreate those vintage J. Crew catalogues this summer! Different vibe but I have held onto the bookmark for this sick vintage Shetland wool v-neck for a SELFISH amount of time (L/$65)!
Fur-trim suede jacket, M, $99.99: Sickening suede & fur coat from Chico’s!
Handmade yellow floral velvet jacket, XS, $165: Or try vintage velvet?
Fausto Santini beaded bag & shoe set, IT37.5, $349.50: Been saving this bookmark for an unhealthy amount of time bcs it’s just a touch spenny for my blood, but it’s also WAY too gorgeous to lose. Finally, she is safe in your hands!!
Velvet patchwork bag, $65: Did I only stick to the 26-item limit by shoving all the bags in one spot? Who cares, them’s cheertator rules, baby! OK, closing out with our finishing 100M sprint: sick white leather Vivienne Westwood ($203.04); hella practical leather satchel ($79.75);17 cute lil black top-handle bag ($58.50); love the deep grain of this brown leather bag - gold hardware & ponyhair accents are a plus ($79.99); always love a decorative top-stitch on leather ($65); Pratesi is clutch for all your sciura looks without breaking the bank ($149); feels like I can never include this one in a newsletter bcs I go back & forth on whether it’s croc-effect or crocodile, but I love it either way ($75); this one is definitely croc-effect but it’s fab regardless ($139); back with MORE Scuola del Cuoio18 in the form of this gorgeous leather weekender ($150) and very good intrecciato leather briefcase ($189); love this grained leather hauler - Margaux who ($73)? And I’ll leave you on a classid DF note - perfect little Henry Cuir envelope clutch for $79.99!
WE MADE IT! Now to delete all these bookmarks19 so I have space for more. See you soon, my precious ducklings!!
I fully subscribe to Hunter Harris’s POV here - I’ll happily use “happy new year’s” as a work email opener for basically all of January and WHO CAN STOP ME???
Now known as Unhappy New Year’s!
As opposed to my …regular, highly standardized posting times…[cough].
Uhhhhh, loosely interpreted. I have a lot of bookmarks to get through, OK!! Also, how annoyed am I that I couldn’t do this for the 62nd post? Let’s not get into it.
Perma-caveat that none of us need any of this, and part of why I like writing this newsletter is it helps me appreciate pretty things without needing to own them. There’s just literally too MUCH shit to even try to own all the good stuff tbh. Best lesson of second-hand shopping! Other caveat that this format means I’m not being as price-sensitive as in a standard post, but again, it IS fun to look at pretty things even if they’re way out of my budget imo. Then we click away and have a nice cup of tea, tbh!
Guilty as charged!
Tangentially I am guttttttted that this one sold before I could post. Procrastination curse strikes again!
Including screenshots, searches with seemingly the exact listing name, related search terms etc. I spent 45 idle minutes in bed trying to get to this listing to no avail and then it just popped up 3 days later with zero effort.
I say “promotion,” but running her own insanely successful AND actually creative line, all while doing an incredibly lucrative and consistently fun Adidas tie-in line is kind of the best of all worlds already? Like this is a score for Hermès tbh. But also hopefully she is making stupid bank now!!
Highlight of my last trip to Japan? Costco! Still sad we likely can’t make it this trip…
He designed the two fabulous lingerie dresses Madonna wears in the Like A Virgin music video!! Witness this impeccable apartment tour!! Just look at these sickening hooded opera coats on Naomi [open weeping]
Zero shade, but probably a lot of jealousy here as birkenstocks do NOT work for my stupid-ass practical-joke narrow feet. Believe me, I have tried so many times in so many eras of their popularity at this point, as someone who truly loves a walkable shoe. Yes, even the narrow ones.
RIP to that babygurl tho [prayer hands emoji]
Literally what this newsletter was founded on! And sheer stress over all the millions of gorgeous-ass tabs I had open while Zara coats were being recc’d in chat. Sorry, I am definitely in favor of nuance and truly know why fast fashion gets recommended so often. Buying resale takes TIME and PATIENCE, and also so much PRIVILEGE (in size, money, time, lifestyle, etc) but I do really hate Zara specifically and haven’t bought anything there in over a decade and truly have not suffered fashion-wise for that choice at all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
To be clear, I do not support this move. If you want to spend stupid money, it should be on uniquely baller shit like this imo.
We love a shitty 1st image on ebay, keeps the rent down!
Of fantastic leather workshop fame!
Except the Costco hot dog t-shirt. That stays.

Oh, and if you’re a fan of all things Egyptian, try searching for the good quality items produced by the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MMA is stamped on the jewelry) in the 70s from the King Tut collection tour. There are some amazing pieces! Here’s a link to the original catalogue: https://libmma.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/collection/p15324coll10/id/235404
I have the eagle wing scarf, and the cartouche cuff links. 💕
That Sue Wong dress! 😍
