What a week of high highs & low fucking lows. I was at a wedding this weekend and I can’t really put into words the emotional whiplash of coming off the dance floor Saturday night soaked in sweat, beaming, having spent the day celebrating friends, only to check our phones and find out that the US had bombed Iran. Highly reccomend this essay by Ben Greene of Good Queer News on “re-resourcing” yourself - his newsletter manages to balance joy and resistance, rather than the somewhat-nebulous “joy as resistance.”
On a note of obviously equal import, I finally got the Bumble & Bumble salt spray for peak Olsen Hair™ and it works!!1 Also a lil caveat emptor for all TRR links below: Unless you’re literally going to cry from missing out on some grailed item, just wait until next week if you want to buy anything. 100% they drop the prices for July 4th sales by 7/1.2
5 second-hand recs:

Silk Rochas dress, XS, $105 (or 0/$125): Thinking about long hyper-saturated silk dresses rn, probably bcs I just wore one to a v. picturesque summer wedding upstate.3 A few other options from Rochas (slinky fiesta red wrap dress in S/$142.50; & a demure pleated tangerine option in US4/$122.50) to pair with these PERFECT dual jewel-tone velvet & brocade Rochas heels (IT36, $74.25). Whoops, I slipped and fell back on the OTT Maximum Opulence™ train with this bombshell beaded red ombre gown from Laurence Kazar4 (PL, $75) - versus the clean simplicity of this amber Vince tank dress (S/$90). Dying at the absolute DRAMA of this teal rosette cape dress, someone deserves to sweep onto an Italian villa wearing this thing (US14, $89.99). It’s a deeply non-summery black velvet (lol whoops) and only partially silk, but this dress is so va-va-voom, I desperately need someone to get it and completely ruin their ex’s day (US22, $225)!! For the dog days of summer when you are cursing the couple and the sun is eating your soul, try this breezy blue silk caftan (XL/$132.50) before your toast turns into a roast. And then one ridiculously sexy backless option from none other than Fleur Du Mal (L/$148).
Silk-paneled linen & silk halter dress, L, $52.14 (or here for $59.99): And if you are looking for a little more ease re stains/washing, why not linen? This halter-neck linen with gorgeous silk panels (and fully lined in silk?!) in a perfect summery chartreuse is so good that I hunted it down in a ton5 of sizes ( Petite XS/$30, S/$37.95 or here for $87.50, Petite L/$60, Tall L/$52.14, XL/$50, 1X/$74.99, 3X/$72). Or this airy v-neck maxi that’s 98% cotton voile & lined in 100% cotton (US18, $75)!
Cindy Lou sterling silver lapis and spiny oyster shell necklace, $62.90: Alright, we already covered Bigass Silver Cuffs already as a summertime #hack6 for when it’s too hot to layer/think coherently. This week it’s a colorful necklace, baby!!7 Other faves are def this super citrusy glass bead necklace ($49.99) & equally-juicy jade & carnelian necklace & earring set ($88), but there’s so much fun to be had in this area at a wide price range tbh. Under $25: 27” green glass bead necklace, ICONIC fan-collar gemstone necklace, demure purple & cream square glass bead option. Under $50: a dainty 18” silver & rainbow art glass piece, 24” green & gold for everyone looking for vintage #schmoney vibes, super organic-feeling chunky polished agate, show-stopper sterling silver & racket-shaped agate pendant. Two under-$100 options in the form of a gorgeous triple-strand green stone necklace & this truly sickening giant jasper pendant on braided leather cord, and two right around $150: aquamarine & 14K gold choker necklace/earring combo, and a citrine & hessonite garnet 25” necklace.
Giorgio’s of Palm Beach alligator loafers, US7.5, $54: What’s a Duck Fat post without a little exotic leather, & Palm Beach doesn’t do faux, baby! Similar tassel option in men’s 9 for $62.50 here, or a cream option in women’s 8.5 for $86.25. I also love these ostrich sandals (US7.5 in red & cream for $84, or white for $48). And these Ralph Lauren faux-croc oxfords are well done with super-walkable soles (US7/$42). Not croc but they came up in my hunts and they’re unbearably sexy for whoever can manage to walk in them (US7.5/$56.25)!
Kieselstein-cord shoulder bag, $156: Kieselstein-cord is a peak “I wouldn’t tell anyone, but there would be signs” brand for me. Recently saw theeeee most chic8 woman on the train and she had a perfect9 Kieselstein-Cord bag that I had to tell her I loved.10 Anyhow, this is her exact bag in black. Divine! Also good is this fun woven option for $175. And in true TRR-Shambles-Listing fashion, I spotted this leather handbag under $100 (down from $455 lol sure) - probably because TRR has a pair of men’s pants at the first two pics LELLLL!!11
3 unshoppables:
Alright, this one’s on the low lows end of the spectrum but Alistair Kitchen’s New Yorker account of his detainment & deportation for simply writing about the protests at Columbia is appropriately terrifying and required reading imo.
Soothing watch: dialogue-free Pitti Uomo entrances, ideal for playing while you eat lunch at your desk dreaming of linen suiting and sockless loafer summer.12
So many fun things happening in NYC this weekend!! The Showplace tag sale is 6/27-29, Peter Do’s doing a pop-up starting tonight and running all weekend, and my friend’s little sister, who makes legit gorgeous pottery, is doing a flash sale in Valentino Park out in Red Hook!13
1 substack rec:
Truly have no other option but to rec the Link In Bio on Melted Solids, the team behind all of Zohran’s deeply viral video content. Bonus rec for Culture Study’s essay, An Obituary for Reading the Internet, for anyone else grieving the death of Pocket. I’m scrolling the comments for good suggestions to replace it in another tab as we speak.14
1 outfit I loved this week:

Listen, just to fully brag, I looked so fucking cool at this wedding. Big thanks to
for turning me onto Apiece Apart through her stellar newsletter - got this dress for myself as a birthday gift at a 260 sale last year and then wore it for my actual birthday, and it’s still going strong a year later.
Braid for reception/tearing it up on the dance floor, Olsen waves for morning-after brunch - it was divine!!
Or earlier tbh. They’re real heaux for a “sale” that’s really just discounting an inflated price.
See outfit pic.
Ofc.
Weirdly could not find an M - but I like this embroidered linen one (8-10/$84.99).
I’m possibly the least productive member of our household, including our cat Nora who can (and often does) sleep for 16 hours a day. So I’m using the term “hack” here pretty…loosely.
Probably bcs I devoured both The Molehill & Vejeweled rundowns on Las Vegas Jewelry week!! Such fun reads even for someone like me, who truly knows nothing deep about the gem world.
It was over 100 degrees that day!! Even more impressive. Whole outfit was spectacular, black wide leg linen pants with a brown tube top - and ofc, a perfectly tousled bob.
But not precious! Slouchy, unzipped so you could see the sickening green suede lining. V high risk, high reward move.
We’re v. pro-complimenting strangers here at Duck Fat.
This $150 ebay listing looks super similar if you want some detail shots (I dislike saffiano leather, so imo the TRR one is both better and cheaper in this instance).
I also like that people seem aware they’re being filmed here based on the equipment & event context. Idk, I feel uncomfortable about how ubiquitous covert street style content has become, surveillance state vibes etc.
Will post details in chat/just DM me if you rlly want to go - I believe it’ll be mostly teapots this time. She’s so talented, she did all the centerpieces for her big sis’s wedding and everyone was fighting over who got to keep what. OK, I was fighting.
Seems like the popular vote is for Reader by Readwise but it’s a paid app, so I am def open to other suggestions if you have any!
You really brought the drama and the glamour with the dresses this week! Wow!
Your blue dress is fabulous!
